The Essential Ingredients
- Ground Beef: Also called ‘hamburger,’ it’s made by grinding beef cuts and beef trim. It works well in dishes that require crumbles, and typically any leanness of Ground Beef works well in dishes – just be sure to drain any remaining fat after cooking.
- Prepared Pasta Sauce: A ready to use tomato- based sauce seasoned with herbs and garlic found in a jar at the grocery store. Offers a quick way to add flavor to pasta dishes. May include meat and vegetables.
- Italian Blend Cheese: Pre-shredded mix of cheeses commonly used in Italian cooking often including mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan. It’s recognized for its meltability and rich flavor. Perfect for pizzas or lasagna.
- Garlic: A flavorful bulb that is related to the onion family. It has a strong aroma (that fills your kitchen), taste that enhances your dish and is known for its versatility.
- Prepared Ravioli: Pre-made pasta pockets filled with ingredients such as cheese, meat or vegetables. An easy short cut for a quick weeknight meal.

So easy and so good. This is definitely going into the rotation. I didn't have the cheese called for and used a blend of Monterey jack and munster. It was a hit. I might use this blend every time. Thank you for a great recipe.
I came across this recipe and made it as written. We love it! Don’t leave out the nutmeg! It doesn’t stand out, but it adds a comforting flavor to the sauce. This sauce is now my go-to when I want a hearty and special tomato-based pasta sauce. It’s the best one on the internet, and believe me I’ve seen them all while I was looking for this one again. Thank you for this recipe!
okay I did not use the garlic or nutmeg. I did two batches. One with Chesse and Spinach manicotti along with cheese ravioli and one without the spinach. Turned out GREAT. Garlic bread to the side and Voila Yummy Oh yes, I added 1 lb of ground sausage mixed with the ground beef. Well worth it.
